During spring and autumn depending on the volume of snow, sometimes mules cannot carry our baggage to the camp area, in this case we stay in a local house instead of the camp.
This tour takes visitors across the Central Alborz Mountains and can be customised depending on your preparation and fitness level and the time of arrival, but is only possible between April and November months. In April and sometimes May, we check the weather in advance and will advise you accordingly. We travel in a small group and after one night stay in a hotel in Tehran, we transfer you to the mountain region in north Tehran. We stay for the second night in a mountain village 1,800m above the sea level. The initial hike is mild and starts at the altitude of 1,800-2,300m passing through a canyon and along the river. The following day we ascend to the altitude of 3,000m and then drive towards another village, 2,600m above the sea level. For the following three days we hike further into the protected area to the altitude of above 4,000m. On this part of the tour our provisions are transported by mules. This is a particularly enjoyable hike, as you get to enjoy the amazing view of the highest peaks in the Central Alborz as well as Mount Damavand (5,610m). We will then return to the village and drive back to Tehran where we will offer you a special programme depending on the time of the year and the events that are on in the capital during that time.
Pick up at the Tehran’s Imam Khomeini International Airport and transfer to the hotel in the city centre. Overnight in Tehran.
After breakfast, we will drive north of Tehran to the Central Alborz Mountains. The hike starts at the altitude of 1,800m and goes up to 2,300m. We will hike the entire day through the beautiful canyon, passing various mountain villages and remains of a castle and then hike downhill to the village for dinner and overnight stay
After breakfast, we hike up to the altitude of 3,000m to acclimatise and prepare for the following days. We will return to the village in late afternoon for dinner and then drive up for about 45 minutes to another mountain area, where we stay overnight in a local house at the altitude of 2,700m.
After breakfast, we set off for a three-day hike in the Central Alborz Mountains protected area. We carry only the essentials in our backpacks: water, packed lunch, camera, a fleece jacket and a light rain jacket. Mules will carry the rest to our camp. We will ascend a mountain peak of 4,100m and then hike downhill to the camp area for overnight stay.
After an early start, we will hike for seven hours across the mountains past the ridge towards the peak. We take a rest at the summit and then descend back to our camp.
After a hearty breakfast, we hike up to the altitude of 4,000m, from where we start our descent towards the village (2,700m) where we overnight in a traditional house.
After a good night’s sleep, we drive back to Tehran (approx. one and a half hours) where we visit the main city sites with a local guide and have a dinner in one of the capital’s nice restaurants. Overnight in a hotel in Tehran.
Based on your flight departure time, we will drive you to the Tehran International Imam Khomeini Airport.

So, there are excellent hiking opportunities for adventure travellers here. Iran’s three major ski resorts (Dizin, Darbandsar and Shemshak) with excellent facilities and a variety of ski lifts and slopes are located in the Central Alborz approx. 65km north of Tehran. The breathtaking “roof of Iran” and the highest peak in the country and the Middle East – Damavand (5,610m) – is also located in this region.
