This tour has been designed for people who are interested in trekking and camping in the desert with limited time. On this trip you will have a short visit of Iranian Desert “Dasht-e Kavir” on Iran classic route between Esfahan and Yazd. On the way from Esfahan to the desert, we consider stopping at rural places to visit small towns and villages. There are some activities included in this tour such as walking in the villages, one and a half day desert trekking, camping with overnight stay and a short off-road driving in 4x4 vehicles.
The accommodation is a cosy guest house that would give you the feeling of staying at your own home. You will visit Kuhpayeh, Anark and Na’in historic towns, Qehi historic village, dry salt river, Mesr and Farahzad oases. We will travel to a viewpoint for watching sunset and if you wake up in the early morning you will have the chance to watch the desert’s amazing sunrise. This tour officially starts from Esfahan and finishes in Yazd.
Note: For those who would like to join the tour from Yazd a taxi will be arranged to pick them up and meet us on the way in first day. (40 € charge which is not included in the tour package). This is a tight journey to touch most attractions of the Iranian Central Desert “Dashte-e Kavir” in 3 days. Day 1: Exploring Kuhpaye, Qehi, Naiin & Anarak on the way to Central Desert
The desert journey will start from Esfahan at 8 AM driving around 450 km taking around 9-10 hours. We will visit Kuhpayeh historical town, an old Caravanserai and one of the oldest mosques of Iran. Then we will drive to the historic village of Qehi. In the village you will visit the remains of an old castle in a picturesque location ideal for taking photos. We will also spend some time roaming in the village. The houses, mosque and its underground water (Qanat) are the highlights of the village. Afterward we will drive towards the desert. On the route we will visit historical towns of Naiin and Anarak. In Naiin we will visit its historic mosque, anthropology museum and Narin castle. Following Naiin we will leave for Anarak which is located at the starting point of Iran Central Desert. In Anarak there is a special viewpoint from a tower to see the whole town. We will hike up to the tower for photography and watching the town. We have picnic lunch for this day. Proceeding in the late afternoon towards the desert we will arrive to our guest house in the evening. We will check in taking some rest and prepare for a traditional dinner. The night time would be a great opportunity to watch the stars of the desert. (L, D)
Day 2: Trekking in the heart of the desert
Early morning rise up. After breakfast we will start trekking. On the trekking route we will stop every now and then to rest and take photographs from spectacular and amazing sand dunes. We will continue walking until late afternoon. After finding a suitable point for our camp in the desert and some rest we leave for watching the sunset. We will have dinner at our camp enjoying the beauty of the desert sky. Overnight stay in tent. (B, L, D).
Day 3: continue trekking - Drive to Yazd
We will wake up at the crack of dawn (optional) walking for a while to watch the sunrise view of the desert and will walk back to our camp for breakfast. Next, the camp will be collected and trekking will continue toward the sand dunes. Then we will return to the oasis where our vehicle will pick us up to Yazd. We will have lunch at the guest house before driving to Yazd. We will be there in the evening. (B, L)
- Deviating from this itinerary is unpreventable sometimes due to weather conditions, seasonal changes, frequency of visits to a village or for any other factor which may influence our travel times and schedules. Furthermore, this is the tight itinerary and sometimes we must skip a place or two depending on the season. During the winter an autumn season’s sun light will be scares; this will affect the number of places you will be able to explore during the day.
- During the spring time (from Mid-March to end of May) we might experience rain and wind in the desert so you should be prepared for occasional rains and winds.
- we are operationg as a small group adventures and the maximum group size is 15 people per each trip, but the most common group size is between 6-8 people.
