Trip Notes

Deviating from this itinerary is unpreventable sometimes due to weather conditions, seasonal changes, frequency of visits to a village or for any other factor which may influence our travel times and schedules. Furthermore, this is the tight itinerary and sometimes we must skip a place or two depending on the season. If you would like to go to the Airport after the trek, the taxi driver will charge you $20 USD.

Many travelers visiting Tehran miss the beauties of its countryside while there are great offerings around Tehran for adventure/cultural tourists. There are ski resorts, wildlife, protected areas, rock climbing opportunities, seasonal ice climbing and mountain biking areas around Tehran. It would be a good idea to escape Tehran and relax in the villages nearby for a couple of days. From the city, less than one hour drive will get you to the village that we have chosen for your journey. In this village you will experience fresh weather and calmness forgetting the pollution and noise of Tehran. The altitude of the village is around 2000 m from sea level and is covered by mountains of Central Alborz. The itinerary is related to the season that you are travelling in. Each season has its own attractions, so as to enjoy the beauties of them trekking route is flexible depending on the weather. In spring the village is covered by many trees, more water flows in the rivers and the flowers are blooming. Temperature at night time is a little cold while day temperature is pleasant. In summer when Tehran is really hot, the weather of the village and mountains around are cool making them suitable for trekking. Higher altitudes will present us fresh air quality. In autumn weather will be colder and the colour of the nature will change which making it a perfect season for trekking between villages. Expect cold weather in winter but it’s still has own beauties. The village and mountains are so quiet and still suitable for short and long hiking. If you are visiting during winter, then be ready for very cold temperature and the night time would be freezing.
There is hiking activity considered on the routes between villages. The untouched landscape, river, sounds and colours of nature in a non-touristic area makes this trekking route a special one.
The first day is arrival to the village, having some rest and adopting yourself to the altitude and atmosphere. On the second day, you will have a hiking day from a village to another village and we will ascend around 450m height takes approximately 8 hours to go and back. The third day is a tight one to climb to the summit. The mountains are attached to each other, the altitude is between 2950 m- 3000m (1200 meter above the village). It takes a whole day around 10 hours trek to climb up and return. At the end of the 3rd day we will go back to Tehran.

  • Depart from Tehran to Fasham road in the afternoon by a private vehicle. You will be picked up from your hotel at 5 pm. It takes only one hour to reach to the village. The altitude of the village is around 2000 m from the sea level. When you arrive, first you will get relaxed in our place and then prepare for a short walk in the village. You will enjoy the birds chirping and the river’s sound. After sightseeing and photography in the village, we will be back to the house preparing the dinner. Sometimes we make a night fire enjoying its warmth in the village. Sleeping is in a shared room on Iranian traditional style mattress

  • On this day we will have a short trekking between villages to get prepared for the next day’s long hiking. Today’s trekking would be a good acclimatization practice for those who live at sea level in their home town. After breakfast, we will start trekking from the village. The chosen route is an interesting path close to river between mountains with many trees covering the way. We may see herds of sheep and their shepherds and guard dogs on this day. After a while we will stop at a point for a short rest. Then we will continue trekking through a canyon hiking up to 450 m. Around noon we will arrive to another village. After exploring the village and photography we will start descending. We will be back in the afternoon. On arrival we will take a rest/shower and prepare the dinner. We will sleep one more night in the village.

  • We will rise up early morning at dusk. For this day a longer and tougher route has been chosen. We will go on the ridges to have a better view of the area. After drinking a fresh coffee, we prepare our day pack and start trekking from the village. You will carry your packed lunch and breakfast and we will kick the road towards the top. There are a few mountains around the area which we will consider one of them for moderate trekking to reach the summit. The mountains are close to each other and if the weather is clear you can see Damavand Mountain. The altitude of the summit is between 2950-3000 m, this means that we will hike up around 1200m from the starting point. Most of the route is on mountain ridges and we will traverse through many mountains.
We will stop on the way for breakfast and will resume trekking till noon time to achieve the top. After taking a rest and having lunch at the top we will start descending to return to the village.
We will arrive in the late afternoon. After taking shower and rest, in the evening the driver will pick you up to Tehran

Central Alborz Mountains lie north of Tehran and south of the Caspian Sea within easy reach from the Iranian capital. Here there are a number of natural protected areas and national parks with rich flora and fauna under the protection and supervision of the Iranian Environmental Organisation. Central Alborz Mountains have more than 40 peaks above 4,000m, and many fresh water rivers, picturesque lakes, valleys and canyons. So, there are excellent hiking opportunities for adventure travellers here. Iran’s three major ski resorts (Dizin, Darbandsar and Shemshak) with excellent facilities and a variety of ski lifts and slopes are located in the Central Alborz approx. 65km north of Tehran. The breathtaking “roof of Iran” and the highest peak in the country and the Middle East – Damavand (5,610m) – is also located in this region. The climate and weather conditions in the Central Alborz are seasonal. In early spring and late autumn when there is still snow at the altitudes above 3,000m, the weather can be unpredictable.
