About Azaad Kooh Mountain (4,400 m / 14,288 ft)
Azaad Kooh Mountain is one the first ten highest peaks in Iran. The mountain is located in the central Alborz ranges. Azaad means free and Kuh/Kooh means mountain. Free mountain might be a local name because this peak has a cone shape which is separated from other surrounding mountains.
Azaad Kooh has a rocky summit that rises in the Central Alborz mountain range. If you assume a line from Tehran to the northern city of “Noshahr”, Free Mountain is located somewhere in the middle. In three directions of the summit; east, north and west faces are surrounded by steep rocky walls more than 500 meters tall. In the summer there is no need to use any technical equipment to climb Azaad kooh.
